Tourist Attraction Review: Kalambu Hot Springs Water Park in La Fortuna

In a recent episode of Tico-ish we were talking about our favorite places to go in La Fortuna. Since the city is right by Arenal Volcano, there are many hot springs pools and resorts that are heated by the volcano, making the whole area a very popular tourist destination. In fact, it seems like every month or so a new hot springs place opens up. And that's actually why we decided to talk about La Fortuna, since I had gone to a relatively new place called Kalambu. It's officially called a "hot springs Read more [...]

Great Article About Visiting Costa Rica

I wanted to share this article that has some really great tips about visiting Costa Rica. It has some good general advice about what to expect from a trip to Costa Rica, and how to go about planning one. My favorite/least favorite one is actually number 2, about the days always being about the same length! It's weird, but even after 10 years here, that's something that still annoys me, for some reason. Anyhow, the article is on the blog Mom Endeavors, although the tips were written by my friend Read more [...]

Hotel Review: Andaz Peninsula Papagayo Resort

Hello! It's been a busy couple of months, but I finally have a couple minutes to write a new hotel review. I've been meaning to write this review for a while now since we went there at the start of May...May 2015! In the meantime, we've also gone there on two other occasions, including the start of this month. So it's high time for a review. I'll talk about the area, the hotel itself, and some things you can do when you're there. Finally, we'll get into a few ways that you can stay there without Read more [...]

New Denver-Costa Rica Flight Coming!

This is good news for any fellow Coloradans looking to visit Costa Rica: United will be starting direct flights between Denver and both San Jose and Liberia, Costa Rica in December! That's much nicer than going through Houston (where immigration is terrible), Dallas, or Miami, and it'll mean you don't have to spend an entire day traveling in each direction, since a direct flight takes about 5 or 6 hours. You can read more here. Previously, the only direct Denver-Costa Rica flights were on Frontier, Read more [...]

Tourist Attraction Review: EcoTermales

Hello! Two posts ago I wrote a review of Los Lagos hot springs just outside of La Fortuna, so I thought that I'd add another review of a different hot springs in the same area. We went to EcoTermales right around the same time, so although it was admittedly a few months ago, I'm pretty sure you'd have a similar experience today or any other day. We went on a Thursday afternoon with my family when they were visiting. I think that the timing was the key, and that made all the difference. You generally Read more [...]

Tourist Attraction Review: Los Lagos Hot Springs, La Fortuna

Greetings from a rainy mountain in Central America! I was thinking about this site recently, as well as the type of people who read it. More importantly, I was thinking about why they read the site. I try to share weird things about Costa Rica, but the posts that seem to get the most attention are ones that an average person can think about or use in some way, like posts about food. So I thought I'd try reviewing some places around Costa Rica when I go to new attractions or hotels, since there Read more [...]
